 “Trouvailles“ is a collection of short compositions which I mostly came about by chance and could not get out of my mind again. Therefore, I finally decided to arrange them for saxophone quartet – not least to be able to play them myself.

The album contains a varied mixture of works by the composers Lully, Schumann, Gluck, Schubert, Chopin, Scarlatti, Puccini and Beethoven. To quartets made up of advanced students of the saxophone, these pieces may be of use as études to work on the refinement of sonority and stylistics; to the “pro”, they may prove to be a rich source of encores full of atmosphere as well as short concert pieces.

At all events, I do hope the special charm of these finds will be to the liking of the instrumentalist.
